Snowman Cookies- Food Lovin' Friday

Note to self:  if you're going to start a new blog, don't do it around the holidays because you'll get too busy and forget to write new posts.  So sorry.

With that said, let's get into Food Lovin' Friday!

This week I made some Snowman Cookie Pops for a cookie exchange.  As with a lot of the things I've been making lately- I got the idea from Pinterest.

(For those of you still in the dark- Pinterest is a virtual pin board or sorts, the you can post 'pins' of some of your favorite online things.  You can see what your friends are pinning, and what other people are pinning too.  You should join, you will love it!)

Here's a link to the original idea: here.

Here's a picture of the ones I made:

And here's a tutorial!

What you need:
     Oreo cookies
     Sticks
     White Melting Chocolate
     Mini chocolate chips
Orange icing, or candy corn (for the nose)

1. I went ahead and melted my chocolate first to have it ready.  Use a deep bowl to make dipping easier.

2. Next, get your cookies ready for dipping.  Any type of sandwich cook will work, I just happened to get the Winter Oreo ones that have cute red creme.  Twist off one of the sides.
You can see that not all of them twisted nicely.  Save those to eat later.

Shimmy the stick (either round ones like mine, or flat ones would work too) into the frosting a bit.  Place a small dab of the melted chocolate over the stick and then place the other cookie half back on.  I found that this added dab of chocolate helped the cookies stay together, and helped the stick stay in the cookies.
Sorry, this photo is a bit blurry.

3. Let these cookie pops set up a bit.  That way your stick won't come out of the cookie while you are dipping it.  Trust me- I know from experience.  While these are setting up, get your mini chocolate chips ready in a small bowl.

4. Now get dipping!  I used a spoon to help cover the cookie.  Once covered, hold it over the bowl to let some of the excess drip off.  Turn the cookie a few times to ensure an even covering.  Place them on parchment paper to dry.
If your chocolate gets to stiff, like this picture, just reheat it quickly.

5. While the cookies are still wet, add the mini chocolate chips for eyes and a smile.  If you are using candy corn for the nose, put that on now too.  If you'll be using icing for the nose, wait until the white chocolate hardens.
Some of them looked like creepy Halloween cookies without the noses!

6. I happened to have a tub of opened white frosting, so I just used that and colored a small bit of it orange.  I put it in an icing bag with a small tip.

And there you have it!  Super easy snowman cookie pops.  They went over great at the cookie exchange.

Have a fabulous Friday!
